TPV is a dynamically cross-linked mixture of EPDM and polypropylene. Precisely formulated and processed, the compound offers a combination of excellent thermoplastic and elastomeric properties (hardness, flexibility, elasticity) with the ease of thermoplastic processing.

The raw material cost is higher for TPV than traditional thermoset rubbers such as EPDM, but this is more than offset by cost savings on the finished part or assembly. TPV weatherseals reduce finished part cost by simplifying fabrication, reducing processing times, and lowering scrap rates. TPV scrap is 100% recyclable and directly reprocessable
